This work "Merry-Go-Round" was painted during the first world war. Its is about men and women, some of them soliders, sailors and cilivians, sitting in a rigid pose with their mouth crying in silence, and being trap on a carousel that turns endlessly.
From my point of view, since it about war, i think it also shows how horrible and scary war can be and that fear will be always around them thats why they are trap turning endlessly. And it also like like there an explosion in the background.
Edward Gorey
Edward Gorey is a illustrator as well as an writer for his own children's story books. He even design the costumes for the broadway 'Dracula' which earned him a Tony award in 1978. When he was in his late sixties, Gorey produced, wrote, directed, and occasionally even acted in his own community theater productions in the Cape Cod area, where he lived and worked in his later years.About his work and style, its often concerned to death and horror. And I think its kinda gothic. The reason why, if you notice most or i should say all of them are in black and white. His work are just simple looking drawing, like just using a pencil or pen, with simple details. I think he really inspires me alot! Its shows me that with just simple drawings and it can look pretty good. And the 2 pictures above are my favourites ones. =)

The Emperor Wears His Invisible Clothes Walking Proudly In His Kingdom Capitial Full Of Dog And Monkeys
Synopsis
The emperor was giving a speech to his "people", dogs and monkeys, of his kingdom and they were all cheering for him. When suddenly the legendary dragon came to attack his kingdom. Everyone including his guards were scared and they ran for their lives, leaving the emperor alone.
The dragon then blew fire from his mouth at the emperor. He wasn't hurt but his clothes were all burned into pieces. Only thing left was his crown and his sword. The furious emperor then withdraw his sword and stab the dragon in its weakpoint ,the heart.
The dragon died and everyone celebrated the emperor's victory. And he walked proudly in his "invisble clothes".
Influences
The 2 illustrators above are the ones that influences and inspires for this inner-landscape assignment. The surrealisim of their illustrations influence me to draw my characters and background as weird and nonsensical as possible. So thats the path I'm heading for.
More ideas to come!!!!!
I'm not so sure whether this idea of mine is a good? But I'm still thinking of better ones. I will be doing more research each day. So hopefully I'll come out of a better idea.
